Ron Paul's cyberbrownshirts.

In response to my blog poking fun at Ron Paul in a fairly gentle way, his supporters have poured out from under their bridges, posted my address and phone number on their websites, reported on my planned movements (they've let supporters know I'll be at SheVaCon) and have vowed to contact my superintendant to get me fired.

I will not be intimidated.

You know, if they don't want to be called fascists, they should just stop acting like them.

If you haven't already, I'll email or call con security to let them know that they might need to get a detail on you. Are there exceptions to their usual weapons policy?

And this may be very inappropriate, but I was wondering if I could point out your plight in my blog? If you say "No," I'd understand.

Best of luck and be safe.

Do you have their IPs? If so, you can report them to LJ Abuse.

You know - what if they used all this vitriol and anger and used it to recharge their campaign? I mean, if they can spare the energy to "make a hobby out of ruining your career," why not lay it out on his upcoming campaign for the US House of Representatives?

I mean, come on - they're mad cause someone pointed out his presidential campaign flatlined. They're angry at someone for POINTING THAT OUT. Fine - put the energy into making Ron Paul's House of Representative campaign the most lopsided ever?

Go out - get involved in politics - run polling stations - get out the message! If you want to keep more teachers from mentioning that Ron Paul's campaign (for President) has stalled, MAKE IT STOP STALLING. Stop blaming media, stop blaming the government spooks, MAKE IT STOP STALLING.

Punishing one guy for giggling at your candidate won't stop the rest of the world from giggling at the "HE BESMIRCHED PAUL'S NAME!" folks. Getting him back into his office with landslide numbers will.

If you're all angry, fine - be angry elsewhere and make a difference.

And then they wonder why the rest of the world hates the USA so much.

Reckon it might be an idea to disable anonymous posting, though – it'll keep the reply count down at least. ;)

I hope you don't get into too much trouble with this.

It's amazing how they were so vocal about their support of Paul and their hate of you yet I can count on one hand how many of them actually posted with a name instead of anonymous

this makes me sad to be an american. the paulites that being. I found your post to be funny and informative and appreciate the fact that you are trying to engage the student body by linking learning to the real world.

My sympathies

Hi makkabee,

I'm a Ron Paul supporter and I'm ashamed and sorry for what's happened to you. Don't listen to these sh*theads. They're mostly anonymous trolls, probably from a small number of emotionally-troubled users. I'd feel sorry for them if I weren't so pissed at them.

I resent the term "Paultard" because my reasons for supporting him are not ideological but informed and nuanced. Believe or not, there are many Paul supporters like me. We should have been more vocal. We hate them as much as you do. Wouldn't you if people started calling your candidate's supporters retarded because of a vocal knuckle-dragging minority?

Enough about us though. I'm just venting, not asking for sympathy or votes.

You have my sympathy though. Don't let the bastards strike you down.

FWIW,
-G

Re: My sympathies

I think there's a distinction between people who support Ron Paul but don't consider differing views a sign of moral or intellectual deficiency and those who do.

You are a Ron Paul supporter, and I'm willing to disagree with your politics while fiercely defending your right to hold those positions.

Paultards are the people who spam websites in Ron Paul's name, try to muzzle dissent, and generally make asses of themselves. There are similarly stupid and obnoxious groups all across the political spectrum, but the Paultards are the ones making the most noise this campaign cycle and so have gotten my attention the last couple of weeks. When they go away and leave the civilized world alone (or just switch to a new cause to which they can be an embarassment) I'll rant on something else, maybe George Will again.

Keep fighting the fight, man :)

It's hilarious that a bunch of nonthinking drones are trying to corral your teaching. Thanks for giving me the heads up over on the Alt History group. Sorry ti's happening to you.
